Perkembangan Kajian Tafsir Mawdu’i di Malaysia (1990-2016)

Abstract

Tafsir mawdu'i or thematic interpretation is one of the kind of interpretation in the Qur'anic sciences. This interpretation emerged in the form of discipline later than the writing of the type of tahlili interpretation. This is because the need for the Quranic interpretation is a thematic form of solving current issues occuring in the society. The main purpose of this study is to investigate the development of the literary writing of mawdu'i in Malaysia. Therefore, this study consists of two parts. Firstly, the discussion on the theme of choice in the field of mawdu'i interpretation since its appearance until year 2016 in Malaysia. Secondly, this paper will present the number of mawdu’i interpretation research studies over the past three decades until the present. Analysis focused on the thesis of undergraduate and phd students and books in two types of public universities of UKM and UM respectively. This research is a qualitative-based method, which studies and analyze documents. Whereby the analysis method used is the descriptive analysis. The findings of the study reveals that the popular theme related to this subject of study was the language and social theme. In addition, the number of mawdu'i interpretation studies are increasing studied from year to year despite seasonal fluctuations. This circumstances can be considered as a satisfactory indication as this form of mawdu’i interpretation studies can be beneficial in addressing contemporary issues.
